Controller, Drug and Food Organization J&K |
A full fledged organization of Drug and Food Control came into existence in the year 1987 after its bifurcation from Directorate of Health Services J&K, with an objective of ensuring availability of standard, safe & quality drug and food articles to the public. With the mushrooming of manufacturing/sale premises across the country, the role and scope of the Orgn. has increased multifold and an earnest need has always been felt for creation of desired structures to fulfill the objectives.
Drug/Food account for substantial part of household expenditure and as such it becomes imperative to put in place a very strong regulatory infrastructure to monitor the quality of Drug/Food items. The state of Jammu & Kashmir is ahead of other states of the country in per capita consumption of medicinal preparations and therefore the concerns and aspirations of the public are justified to warrant a fool proof system of ensuring quality drugs.
